Apron Swap

I had so much fun with the apron swap I joined! These are the fun aprons involved. I made the one for a nice lady in Canada (and since she has a little boy about Tyty's age I jsut had to make him one too). I won the middle one from a lady that has a shop on etsy (see post below). Isn't it so fun? And the one on the right I got from a lady in California that had my name. I LOVE it! It came with a headband even and a yummy homemade candle. How much more fun than that can a person have?! Thanks Bevie for the great apron. Can't wait to do it again!

Good Quote

I found this quote and just love it. Great quote for a gratitude journal. Lately it seems like everyone is dealing with some pretty tough issues so I think we all need to stop and think about what we are supposed to learn from our trying times and just be grateful the Lord thinks enough of us to send us trials to make us more like Him. Not easy ~ but necessary for growth.

Whew!

Quick note - Gary just had his cancer checkup and everything is still looking good. His PSA is where it should be and hasn't gone up (whew) so he doesn't have to go back for another 6 months. Maybe the grumpies will go away now. It's always a relief to know where he stands - especially after his little "bump" last year.

I WON!

I've never won anything so I was surprised to see I had won this as part of the apron exchange I am participating in. Isn't it so fun? I'm busy sewing my apron for my partner. Hope it turns out as cute as this. This apron was from the etsy site I posted below.

Time to clear out and clean up

I had sacks of newborn hats taking up room in my sewing room (no wonder my sewing machine is always on the dining room table!) I was cleaning up and decided it was definately time to turn them in to the Humanitarian center. I was surprised to find I had 228 done! Wow! It's amazing what you can accomplish just while you're sitting around visiting or watching tv or on the phone. Tyler - now some new little babies will be warm and have something to wear.

I learned something new

So I just found out about a fun little website called Etsy. People sell handmade items on this website. I joined in on the Sassy Flirty Apron Swap and one of the sponsors has an etsy site called sassyapron's shop. Check them out - way cute! I especially love the lacework polka dot one.

DONE!

Sometimes I get a little crazy and think I can finish something in a certain amount of time when it really takes a whole lot longer. I started these quilts for my girls way in advance but then the sewing machine broke down and had to get fixed and then Cris came and I just couldn't sew in front of her - I had to have at least one surprise gift for her. I found myself hot glueing the buttons on late Christmas Eve and the bindings were sewn on but not hand finished. Anyway, I sewed all the buttons on and finished binding them after Christmas and got them done in time for a picture before Cris left to go home. They are kind of all the same but different. They loved them and that's what matters. Notice Tyler had to get in the picture.

Friendship Quilt or Apron Exchange?

I've seen a lot of fun ideas on some blogs for these ideas. A friendship quilt is where all of the people involved make 12 squares of the same design. Then they switch with everyone so they have 12 different squares. I think it sounds way fun. An apron exchange is where you sign up to make an apron and then it is sent to another person who has signed up. These are fun because you get people from all over the country involved (hopefully). Great way to make new friends and brush off that sewing machine. Anyone want to be involved in one of these projects? Leave me a comment as to which one. Talk to your friends or family so we can get a lot of peole involved. If we get enough in the next few weeks, I'll post instructions and we'll get started. Are you in?
